Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information St Fin Corp handles when you visit FBAR Reference, how cookies are used, who else may receive information through advertising technology, and the choices and rights available to you.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to FBAR Reference, published at https://bsaefiling.firicen.com. It does not apply to any other website. Our pages link to government and other third-party sites, each of which has its own privacy practices for which we are not responsible.

2. Information we handle

2.1 Information you choose to give us

If you write to us — by email, by post, or by using the contact form to generate an email — we receive whatever you put in your message: typically your name, your email address and the content of your enquiry. We use it only to respond to you and to act on what you have raised, such as correcting a page.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, account numbers, balances, taxpayer identification numbers, copies of tax returns or other sensitive financial or identity documents. If we receive such material unnecessarily, we delete it.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Like effectively every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers create technical logs when a page is requested. Those logs typically contain the requesting IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser and operating system information. They are generated for security, abuse prevention, error diagnosis and basic traffic measurement, and are retained for a limited period by the provider.

2.3 Information stored on your device

The site stores your cookie preference locally in your browser, using local storage, so that the cookie notice does not reappear on every page. That value never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it, and the notice will appear again.

2.4 What we do not do

• We do not operate user accounts, logins or profiles.
• We do not process payments or hold card details.
• We do not run a newsletter or add anyone to a mailing list.
• We do not sell or rent personal information.
• We do not ask for financial account information, and we never will.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children — see section 9.

4. Advertising

FBAR Reference is free to read and funded by advertising. Advertisements are delivered by third-party advertising networks, which act as independent controllers of the data they collect through their own technology.

Where you have agreed to advertising cookies, those partners — which may include Google and other advertising vendors and exchanges — may:

• set and read cookies or similar identifiers in your browser;
• receive your IP address, user-agent string and information about the page being viewed;
• use that information, together with data they hold from your visits to this and other websites, to select and deliver advertisements, including personalised (interest-based) advertising;
• limit how often you see a given advertisement and measure whether it was seen or clicked; and
• detect invalid traffic and advertising fraud.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

4.1 How to opt out of personalised advertising

Independently of our cookie notice, you can limit personalised advertising directly with the industry and with vendors:

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising. You may still see advertisements, selected without reference to your interests.

We also respect the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser or extension transmits one, treating it as an opt-out of advertising cookies and of any “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

5. Why we handle information, and on what legal basis

6. Who information is shared with

• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which process technical log data on our behalf in order to serve the site.
• Advertising partners, as described in section 4, where you have consented.
• Professional advisers, where necessary and under a duty of confidence.
• Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend legal claims or to prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose the content of your correspondence to advertisers.

7. How long information is kept

• Correspondence — kept only as long as needed to deal with the matter and to keep a record of any correction made, then deleted. Ordinarily this means no more than 24 months.
• Server logs — retained by our hosting provider for a short period, typically measured in weeks or a few months, for security and diagnostics.
• Your cookie preference — stored on your own device until you clear your browser data or change your choice.
• Advertising partners’ data — retained according to their own policies, over which we have no control.

8. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). It is a static website: there is no database of readers, no login, and no store of personal information on it, which materially limits what could be exposed. Email, however, is not a secure medium — please do not send sensitive documents to us or to anyone else by email.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

This site is intended for adults dealing with financial reporting obligations. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that higher age). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to privacy@bsaefiling.firicen.com and we will delete it.

Advertising shown on this site is not directed to children, and we do not request that advertising partners target children.

10. Your rights and choices

10.1 All visitors

You may ask us what correspondence we hold from you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and change your cookie choice at any time. Email privacy@bsaefiling.firicen.com.

10.2 EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdrawal of consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

10.3 California

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, California residents have the rights to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed or shared; to delete personal information; to correct inaccurate personal information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. The use of advertising cookies may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can exercise your opt-out by declining advertising cookies in the cookie notice, by using the button in section 3 to change your choice, or by transmitting a Global Privacy Control signal. You may also email privacy@bsaefiling.firicen.com. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a limitation right, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

10.4 Other United States states

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and others as their laws take effect — have broadly similar rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and opt-out of targeted advertising. Use the same contact address and we will honour the rights available to you.

10.5 How we handle requests

We respond within the period required by the applicable law, and within 45 days where no shorter period applies. Because we hold very little information and operate no accounts, we may need to ask you for enough detail to locate correspondence — and if we hold nothing about you, we will tell you so rather than ask for identity documents we do not need.

11. International transfers

St Fin Corp is established in the United States and the site is hosted there or in other countries. If you access the site from outside the United States, information necessarily travels to the United States, where data protection law differs from that in your own country. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

We link to government and other third-party websites. Following such a link takes you outside this site, and the destination’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of sites we do not control.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site, to advertising arrangements or to the law. The review date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated, and material changes will be signalled on the page itself. Continuing to use the site after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
